Confederate General Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard Carte de Visite Signed "G.T. Beauregard." 2.5" x 4", with a Brady's National Photographic Portrait, New York imprint on verso. A fine chest-up portrait of Beauregard, seen in his Confederate uniform with two rows of six buttons. The card is captioned as being "Entered according to Act of Congress by M.B. Brady & Co. in the year 1865 in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Columbia." P.G.T. Beauregard (1818-1893) became the first general in the Provisional Army of the Confederate States on March 1, 1861. He was victorious at the First Battle of Bull Run and commanded armies in the Western Theater. He was present at the Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee and the Siege of Corinth in Mississippi. Beauregard became one of only eight full generals in the Confederate Army and was known as "Napoleon in Gray." From the Bret J. Formichi American Civil War Rarities Collection.

Condition: Boldly signed. Toned throughout, with light soiling at edges. The corners are slightly bumped. On verso has been written in an unknown hand, "Beauregard, Pierre Gustave, Toutant 1818-33." Mounting residue and paper loss on verso, which has affected parts of Brady's imprint.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
