    Confederate General John Brown Gordon Carte de Visite and Clipped Signature "J. B. Gordon". Includes: (1) Fantastic and rare CDV image of Gordon standing in full uniform holding his hat and sword. Measuring approximately 2.5" x 4" with an E. & H. T. Anthony studio mark on the verso, from a Brady negative. Age toning to the mount with notations in pencil on the verso indicating the CDV came from the personal album of Sallie Ann Brock Putnam, author of the noted work Richmond During the War. Generally very good condition. (2) Clipped signature from a typed letter, measuring approximately 5" x 1.5", signed large and boldly in ink. Excellent condition. John Brown Gordon (1832-1904) was one of Lee's most trusted generals during the war. He was many times wounded and present at many important battles of the Civil War including the First Battle of Bull Run, Malvern Hill, Antietam, Gettysburg and at the final battle at Appomattox Court House.
