    Description

Confederate Cavalry Officer: Magnificent Half-Plate Tintype.
4.25" x 5.25" [half-plate] tintype showing a Confederate officer with one star on his collar (signifying Major) in full uniform with double rows of buttons, wearing a plumed hat with a star on the left folded brim, indicating a possible Texas origin. Housed in an embossed brown paper case with velvet liner. The buttons, collar insignia, hat cord, star hat emblem and quatrefoil piping on the sleeves are all highlighted in gold. An iconic image of a "dashing, Southern cavalier". Sourced from an upstate New York auction in 1996. One of the finest Confederate images we have handled!
