With an average size of 7" x 3.5", these fantastic photographs feature the battlefield at Gettysburg; Grant's mine near Petersburg; troops crossing the Rappahannock River in May 1864; buildings in Washington, D.C.; soldiers relaxing; a monument to the fallen at First Manassas, taken in 1869; Belle Island prisoner's camp; cannons grouped on the ground at West Point; the ford where Lee's army crossed the Potomac near Williamsport, Maryland; a contraband camp at Harpers Ferry, circa 1865; and an amputation being performed at the hospital at Fortress Monroe.
