Collection of Alaskan Photographs of Individuals, Including "Soapy" Smith Gang Victim John Douglas Stewart Holding his Once-Stolen Sack of Gold. Eight Alaskan photographs, the largest measuring approximately 4.5" x 5.75", featuring both portraits and candid shots picturing individuals in Alaska circa 1900. Images include: "Alaskan Pioneer 'Old Criss' with catch"; "Ranger / Photographer 'Kinlock': Salcha, Alaska - Fresh Snow Fall"; "Checking out Alaskan Real Estate"; "Caribou Bill 1908"; "Chechacho"; "Alec McDonald 1898"; "Movie Personalities"; and finally "1898 Skagway, Alaska: Stewart and his sack of Gold" which pictures John Douglas Stewart, a gold miner recently returned from the Klondike region with a sack of gold which was stolen by members of the "Soapy" Smith Gang. This robbery would serve as the straw to break the proverbial camel's back in Skagway, inspiring a group of residents, who called themselves the "Committee of 101" to take action against "Soapy" Smith, ultimately resulting in the infamous Shootout at Juneau Wharf in which Smith was killed. All mounted on black paper with photo corners. All in good condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
