Civil War Period Half Plate Tinted Tintype of an Armed Union Soldier. Approximately 4 ¼" x 5 ½", housed in a S. Peck & Co. geometric/scroll pattern light brown Union case (Krainik 16, listed as scarce) and complete with brass mat, cover glass and brass preserver. This large image features a soldier standing in from of a studio backdrop painted with tents and a flag. He poses standing, holding his musket, mounted with bayonet wearing his uniform, overcoat and kepi. Something, perhaps a small pistol, appears to be tucked in his belt. His cheeks have been lightly tinted, and his uniform has been tinted blue. There are some minor scuffs and shallow bends on the plate, the majority of which affect the background only, but the image remains sharp and clear. The case has a few small chips along the edges and a few stress cracks, but the hinges and closure are still in working condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
