Subjects include: Charles Sumner, Preston Brooks - who caned Sumner in the Senate (light stains and abrasions at bottom), radical Maryland Congressman Henry Winter Davis, Henry Ward Beecher, Carl Schurz of Missouri, Pennsylvania Congressman and abolitionist John Covode, group shot of the Beechers (Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry Ward Beecher and Lyman Beecher), Ohio Congressman and abolitionist Joshua Reed Giddings, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Gerrit Smith (financial backer of John Brown).
