    Civil War Era Politicians: Anthony/Brady et al Cartes-de-Visite. Collection of fifty-four CDVs of politicians, mostly photographed by Anthony or Brady. We picture the better, or more famous, examples [37]. The balance are fairly nondescript (some damaged examples, copy images of dags, engravings, paintings, etc.) The subjects in the first group are: New York Mayor Fernando Wood, William Dayton, Senator William C. Preston, the Brazilian Minister to the U.S., Lewis Cass, Senator Ingersoll of R.I., Thomas Hart Benton, N.Y. Port Collector Hiram Barney, Charles O'Conor, Vermont Senator Collamer, New Jersey Senator Theodore Frelinghuysen, Ohio Congressman Elisha Whittlesey, Hamilton Fish, Horatio Seymour, Thomas Corwin of Ohio, Kentucky Governor Beriah Magoffin, Secretary of State Jeremiah Black, New York Congressman James Brooks, Schuyler Colfax, John J. Crittenden, Charles F. Adams, Jr., Joseph Lane, New York Governor William Marcy, New York Mayor Daniel Tiemann, New York Mayor George Opdyke, West Virginia Senator Charles Faulkner, George M. Dallas, Andrew Johnson, New York Senator Daniel Dickinson, Clement Vallandigham, Speaker of the House Robert Winthrop, Connecticut Governor Isaac Toucey, Postmaster General Horatio King, Mr. & Mrs. Henry Clay, John Van Buren, Roger Brook Taney and N.Y. Senator Preston King. All but two in this group have Anthony/Brady back marks.
