    Description

Union General Simon G. Griffon Autograph Letter Signed with Carte de Visite. The ALS (two pages, 8" x 9.75", Keene, New Hampshire, April 3, 1866) is addressed to Secretary of War Edward Stanton. Griffon, a New Hampshire native, recommends Lieutenant Colonel Tileston Barker to full colonel, recounting how Barker fought "at the head of his company" at Bull Run, Fair Oaks, Chickahominy, and other battles. The text and paper are very clean. The CDV (2.5" x 4") features Griffon in uniform and bears the imprint of Whitehurst Gallery of Washington, D.C., on the reverse. Clean.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
