    Description

    Union General Ambrose Burnside: Group of Four Cartes de Visite. Burnside is seen at various stages of his career, two of which show him in his uniform as a general in the Union Army and two in civilian dress, one as governor of Rhode Island and the other as a U.S. Senator, and at various ages. Throughout his career, as illustrated in these images, he kept his distinctive facial hair. Two of the mounts bear an E. & H.T. Anthony backstamp, one a Warren, Cambridgeport, Mass. backstamp, and the final a D. Appleton & Co. backstamp. All are in very good or better condition.
