    Union Cartes-de-Visite: Horatio Gouverneur Wright, John Lorimer Worden, Charles Robert Woods, Daniel Phineas Woodbury, John Ellis Wool and Thomas John Wood. Seven (7) cartes including Horatio Gouverneur Wright (1820-1899) by John Goldin & Company, Washington, D.C (wearing corps badges on hat and jacket).; John Lorimer Worden (1818-1897) by J. O. Kane, New York; Charles Robert Woods (1827-1885) by John Goldin & Company,, Washington, D.C.; Daniel Phineas Woodbury (1812-1864) by McClees Gallery, Washington, D.C.; John Ellis Wool (1784-1869) by E. Anthony, New York, from a negative from Brady's National Portrait Gallery; and two (2) of Thomas John Wood (1823-1906), one sitting by J. W. Campbell, and one standing by Webster & Brother, Louisville. Wright, ranked 2nd in his West Point class of 1841, served as a chief engineer, brigade and divisional commander. Rather cautious, he fought at Secessionville, Gettysburg, Mine Run, the Wilderness and Cold Harbor. Worden was Superintendent at Annapolis (1869-1874) and most well-known as the Captain of the U.S.S. Monitor at the Battle of Hampton Roads. Woods was an active recruiter and quartermaster who saw action in the Shenandoah Valley campaign, Vicksburg, Chattanooga, Bentonville and Griswoldville. Woodbury was trained as an engineer and constructed roadways and forts across the country. His wife and in-laws were Southern partisans and Woodbury had investments in North Carolina, yet he resisted calls to join the Rebels. During the war, he continued to supervise engineering projects and do reconnaissance work. Thomas Wood had an exemplary war record, being twice-wounded. He fought at Shiloh, Stone's River, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, the Atlanta Campaign, Franklin and Nashville. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
