    Union Cartes-de-Visite: Charles Devens, Jr., Jefferson Columbus Davis, Henry Eugene Davies, John Adolph Bernard Dahlgren and Marcellus Monroe Crocker. Five (5) cartes including Charles Devens, Jr. (1820-1891) by J. W. Black, Boston; an unmarked Jefferson Columbus Davis (1828-1879); Henry Eugene Davies (1836-1894) by Brady's National Portrait Gallery [signed]; John Adolph Bernard Dahlgren (1809-1870) by C. D. Fredricks & Company, New York; Marcellus Monroe Crocker (1830-1865) by Barr & Young, Vicksburg. Devens was thrice wounded in the war, fighting at Ball's Bluff, Seven Pines, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Cold Harbor. Davis led the 22nd Indiana Volunteers and fought at Pea Ridge, Corinth, Stone's River, Chickamauga and Atlanta. He is most famous, however, for murdering follow officer William Nelson in a fit of rage over some harsh personal criticism. Davies, a Harvard educated New York lawyer, led troops in the Peninsula, Second Bull Run, Beverly Ford, Aldie (Gettysburg campaign) and Hatcher's Run (wounded). Dahlgren is most famous as the inventor of the Dahlgren Gun. He commanded the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron. Crocker was a competent and popular division commander who fought at Shiloh, Vicksburg, Corinth and the Atlanta Campaign. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
