Ulysses S. Grant Signed and Inscribed Cabinet Card from California. 4.25" x 6.5. General Grant inscribes this cabinet card to the daughter of Union General Charles Collis, commander of the 114th Pennsylvania Infantry: "With the compliments of U. S. Grant to Miss Amelia B. Collis." General Collis fought in several major battles and was wounded at Chancellorsville. The photograph is stamped on the front below the image by photographer Thomas Houseworth of San Francisco. After leaving the White House, Grant and his family returned from a world tour in late 1877 to San Francisco when he had this photo taken. Slight soiling. The lower left corner is bent, slightly affecting the "U." The verso bears tape repairs to the bend.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
