    Description

Sixteen Varying Abraham Lincoln Cartes de Visite. This lot contains sixteen CDVs, fifteen of which are engravings from original portraits. Included are: six examples of #O-92; all engravings of the original photograph by A. Berger. This is the famous portrait used on the five-dollar bill. All in fine or better condition.

Four examples of #O-91; another photo from Brady's assistant A. Berger. Once again these are all engravings; one even features Lincoln standing, although the original photo was of the president seated. Very fine condition on all.

One variant of #O-9; the original photograph is of a beardless Lincoln and this particular example has false whiskers. Artists often did this to Lincoln's earlier boyish photos. In very fine condition; pencil notations on verso; light overall toning; no imprint; round corners.

One variant of #O-55; the famous Speed photograph taken by C.D. Fredericks. This example is just a bust shot of Lincoln, and presented in an engraving. In very fine condition; pencil notation on verso; light toning; no imprint; square corners.

One variant of #O-75; a Mathew Brady photograph. This example is an engraving or artist's rendering of the original and produced as a mass marketing piece in 1866. In very fine condition; double lined gilt border; square corners; informational text on recto and verso.

Three examples of a collage of photographs with Lincoln in the center. One is of him and his cabinet and two of Lincoln and his generals. All in very fine condition.
