    Sixteen Cartes de Visite of Identified Civil War Officers and Notables. All measuring 2.5" x 4", published by E. & H. T. Anthony/M. Brady. Each CDV has the identified name written in pencil on verso. Includes: (1) A group shot of General Scott and his Staff (2) Group of Generals of the Union (3) Sergeant Peter Hart (nailed Old Glory back to the mast during the initial attack on Ft. Sumter, gaining status as the first national hero). (4) General Justus McKinstry (fired by President Lincoln for conduct unbecoming in Missouri). (5) John Ericsson of "Monitor" fame. (6) Admiral Charles Stewart (7) The Duke of Chartres and Count of Paris (8) General Joseph G. Totten (9) General Joseph K. Mansfield (mortally wounded at the Battle of Antietam) (10) General William B. Franklin (11) General Robert Schenck (12) General McClellan and Staff (13) General George B. McClellan, and others (misidentified Gen. G. H. Thomas, O. Kerhaus and Col. Matt Ward, possibly the individual killed by guerrillas in Latonia, Kentucky in 1862).

    Condition: Some are lightly toned and the cards are slightly bowed. Some cards have small areas of soiling, foxing, or dampstaining, but overall very fine.
