Rare Civil War Carte-De-Visite A Union Officer With His Black Patient. Officer seated with slouch hat with Medical Staff insignia in the wreath and a M1840 Medical Staff sword suspended from his sword belt. Sash also visible and wearing gauntlets. Smiling black youth standing next to him with his one arm apparently in a sling. Really great image although we believe it to be a period copy. Exceptional quality and fine condition although the bottom corners of the card are both trimmed vertically for 1" at an angle., not affecting image. Backmark of Dewey, Gibson & Waitz / Cincinnati. Great image.
