    Medal of Honor Recipient Absalom Baird Carte de Visite Signed "A. Baird Brig Genl. Vols." 2.5" x 4", with a Schwing & Rudd, Army of the Cumberland imprint on verso. A bust portrait of Baird, dressed in his uniform. Absalom Baird (1824-1905) was an accomplished division commander who fought at Chickamauga, Missionary Ridge, the Atlanta Campaign, and Jonesborough, where he earned the Medal of Honor for leading the brigade that broke the Confederate position. After the war, he served as the head of the Department of Louisiana and was appointed Inspector General of the Army in 1885. From the Bret J. Formichi American Civil War Rarities Collection.

    Condition: Light foxing throughout, with minor toning. The bottom two corners are clipped, else good.
