    James Steedman Signed Carte de Visite. 2.5" x 4", a seated portrait in uniform, with an E. & H.T. Anthony, New York backstamp on verso. Signed below the image: "James B Steedman Maj. Genl. Vols."

    James Blair Steedman (1817-1883), a newspaper publisher and politician, was Colonel of the 14th Ohio Infantry. He fought at Mill Springs, Corinth, Perryville, Tullahoma Campaign, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Atlanta and Nashville. After the war's end, Steedman retired from the U.S. Army and became editor of the Northern Ohio Democrat newspaper before he was elected to the Ohio State Senate in 1870.

    Condition: Light toning, with pencil notations on verso. Wear at the top on verso. Boldly signed.
