Half Length Carte-De-Visite Portrait of a Federal Zouave C.1864/5. Verso with blue tax stamp but no photographer's logo. The soldier wears a kepi with dark band around the base and small infantry horn insignia with no number on the front. Zouave jacket fastened only at the neck exposing Zouave vest underneath. The tonal qualities of the image would indicate the uniform is either light blue or gray with the tombeaus likely being red. Attached to the tombeau on the left is an intricate piece of insignia attached to a chain that we have been unable to identify. Exceptional quality and fine condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
