    Group of eight Civil War cartes de visites of Union Surgeons. Group includes the following: Bust portrait of Surg. Edward Welling, 11th New Jersey Inf. Signed by Welling on verso and inscribed by him, "Near Battle Field of Spotsylvania Courthouse, Va. / May 17, 18645 / Field Hospital"; three different cartes de visites of Surgeon George T. Ribble, 11th New Jersey Inf.. Bust portrait of Ribble signed on the front, a full length standing view of Ribble in shell jacket with shoulder straps, wearing slouch hat, trousers tucked in knee high boots and signed on the reverse. Another bust portrait of Ribble, ID'd on verso. Ribble served with the 11th from August 1862 to June 1865; full length seated view of William Lamb, Asst. Surgeon of the 8th New Jersey Inf. Wears frock coat with shoulder straps, slouch hat on the table at his side with Medical Staff insignia on front.; Asst. Surgeon Charles B. Jaques, 7th New Jersey Inf. Wears unusual frock coat with single band of quatrefoil on each sleeve. Kepi with 3rd Corps badge on the table at his side and signed on the reverse. Great image. ; profile bust portrait of John P. Norman, Surgeon, 84th Pennsylvania Inf. Wears frock coat with shoulder straps. Signed with inscription on verso, ""Near Petersburg, Va. June 27th, 1864", Norman would resign his commission six days later on July 3; bust portrait of Thomas L. Bartram, Asst. Surgeon 155th Penna. Inf. Wears frock coat with shoulder straps. Signed in pencil on verso along with "Near Petersburg June 20th 1864". Bartram was discharged June 22 having served three years with the regiment. All in fine condition and a very scarce grouping.
