Confederate Signal Corps Blockade Runner Album: Two Houston CDV's. Both cartes have Blessing & Patrick's Gallery of Houston back marks. Towards the end of the war, Galveston was the sole remaining Confederate port that was accessible for blockade runners and supply ships. Houston is connected by waterway with Galveston, so it seems natural that Confederate personnel would headquarter there. One CDV shows two chummy officers with legs crossed, seated in a studio setting. Both wear double breasted Confederate frock coats with standup collars and no visible rank insignia. The officer seated at right with hand tucked in his coat appears to be Lt. James N. Stubbs. The other shows a vignetted portrait of a young officer. He wears a double breasted frock coat with turnbacks folded over. Dark standup collar with insignia of single star denoting the rank of Major.
