    Confederate Lieutenant General Wade Hampton III Carte de Visite and Cabinet Card Photograph. (1) Albumen CDV of Hampton post-war, circa 1889, approximately 2.25" x 4", no studio imprint present. Contemporary identification caption the margin below the image as well as "1889" inked in the upper right corner, otherwise a clear, bright image in very good condition. (2) Cabinet card of Hampton, post-war, measuring approximately 4.25" x 6.5, no studio imprint present. Old pencil notation on the verso; small chip at the upper right corner of the image, else a bright, clear image in fine condition. Wade Hampton (1818-1902) was a cavalry leader who formed Hampton's Legion Cavalry Corp as part of the Army of Northern Virginia. Embittered by the South's loss, he returned to his native South Carolina and pursued a political career.
