    Confederate Lieutenant General Stephen Dill Lee: Two Cartes de Visite and Signed Documents. Including: (1) Rare Perkins Gallery, Augusta, Georgia CDV, Lee posted in uniform seated. A bit of age toning, the lower and upper edge slightly trimmed, corners rounded, else very good condition. (2) CDV, posed seated in uniform, with an E. & H.T. Anthony, New York studio mark on the verso. Light age toning, corners clipped, else a clear image in very good condition. (3) Autograph Letter signed "Stephen D. Lee". One page, 8.5" x 11", on Mississippi Historical Society letterhead (of which he was President), Columbus, Mississippi, April 10, 1902, to Miss S. M. Owen of the New Orleans chapter of the Daughters of the Confederacy. General Lee thanks the chapter for awarding him the Southern Cross of Honor. Slightly toned with the usual old fold creases, else in excellent condition. (4) Autograph endorsement signed by General Stephen D. Lee and legendary Missouri cavalryman Colonel Robert "Black Bob" McCulloch. One page, approximately 8" x 10", Grenada, Mississippi, December 14, 1863. With endorsements of the verso by several Confederate officers including Lee and McCulloch. The officers have endorsed a petition by the citizens of Pontotoc, Tippah and surrounding counties asking that Private Gray of Co. E, 1st Regiment Mississippi be detailed as engineer to attend a steam mill lying idle as a result of the lack of anyone qualified to run it. It reads, in part: "there has been several water mills burned in this vicinity which render it very necessary for the above named mill to be kept running to prevent suffering in this vicinity...". Age toning, old fold creases and some loss on the right edge, else good condition.
