    Confederate Lieutenant General Ambrose Powell Hill, Jr.: Rare Vannerson & Jones, Richmond Albumen Carte de Visite. Approximately 2.25" x 3.5" with a Vannerson & Jones, Richmond studio mark on the verso. Lower edge has been trimmed slightly and there is a small chip from the top right corner. Uniform age toning, else a very good image. A. P. Hill (1825-1865) was an 1847 graduate of West Point who resigned his commission when Virginia seceded and took command of the 13th Virginia Infantry. He fought in many engagements including Seven Days, Petersburg and was killed just days before the end of the war by a Union solider.
