    Confederate Cartes-de-Visite: Wade Hampton, William Hardee, Charles Frederick Henningsen, Henry Heth, Harry Thompson Hays and Roger Weightman Hanson. Six (6) cartes including Wade Hampton (1818-1902) by Monumental Photograph Company, Baltimore; William Hardee (1815-1873) by E. & H. T. Anthony; Charles Frederick Henningsen (1815-1877) (showing some foxing); Henry Heth (1825-1899) carte misidentified as "Col Mosby"; Harry Thompson Hays (1820-1876) (showing heavy foxing); and Roger Weightman Hanson (1827-1863). Henningsen, Heth, Hays, and Hanson by E & H. T. Anthony, New York. Lt. Gen. Hampton served conspicuously throughout the war and was wounded at First Bull Run, Seven Pines and Gettysburg. After the Battle of the Wilderness, he succeeded J. E. B. Stuart as commander of the Cavalry Corps. Hardee, author of "Hardee's Tactics", was a popular commander known as "Old Reliable". Promoted to Lieutenant General, he fought at Shiloh, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge and the Atlanta Campaign. Charles Henningsen toiled in the defense of Richmond and fought at the Battle of Elizabeth City. Henry Heth fought at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg (wounded), Bristoe Station and Petersburg. Despite some shortcomings, he was generally well-regarded. Hays served under Richard Taylor and Stonewall Jackson. He fought at First Bull Run, the Shenandoah Campaign, Port Republic (wounded), Antietam, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg where his troops briefly gained control of Cemetery Hill. He also fought at the Wilderness and was wounded at Spotsylvania. Roger Hanson commanded Kentucky troops. He fought at Fort Donelson, Nashville, Hartsville (with John Hunt Morgan) and was mortally wounded at Stone's River. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
