Confederate Cartes-de-Visite: A. P. Hill, John Daniel Imboden, Benjamin Huger and John Bell Hood. Four (4) cartes including A.P Hill (1825-1865) by Monumental Photograph Company, Baltimore; John Daniel Imboden (1823-1895); Benjamin Huger (1805-1877); and John Bell Hood (1831-1879. Imboden, Huger, and Hood cartes are by E & H.T. Anthony, New York. Lt. Gen. Hill served brilliantly in conjunction with Stonewall Jackson (Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville), but disappointed at Gettysburg, Bristoe Station and the Wilderness. He was killed on April 2, 1865. Imboden had an impeccable war record, likewise serving with Stonewall Jackson. He is famous for the "Imboden Raid" in Spring 1863. He fought with distinction at Gettysburg, alongside Jubal Early and in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign against Philip Sheridan. Huger excelled as an ordnance officer and distinguished himself in the Mexican War, but failed to do so in the Civil War, despite support from Jefferson Davis. Hood served throughout the war with mixed success. He was severely wounded at Gettysburg and again at Chickamauga. His early successes were overshadowed by defeats as a Corps Commander.
