Confederate Brigadier General Bernard Bee Signature and Carte de Visite. The signature includes Bee's rank and reads, "B. E. Bee / Capt. 10th Infy / Commdg Company D." 5.5" x 1.75". Mostly clean paper with later penciled notations below the signature and rank. The CDV, circa 1861, bears a blank back. Clipped upper corners; some marginal chipping; light staining on verso. South Carolinian Bernard Bee (1823 - 1861) was killed early on at First Manassas and, as such, never had a chance to show his true military mettle. He did, however, achieve immortality as the man who first likened Thomas Jonathan Jackson to a "stone wall."
