    Civil War Union Cartes-de-visite: Identified Soldiers. Vignette portrait of man in civilian clothes, inscribed on verso "Capt. Geo. H. Green/ 17th Infy. U.S.A." J. Cremer of Philadelphia back mark with rounded corners. Green was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and served with distinction at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. He succumbed to disease on January 8, 1866. 2) Resonant studio portrait of seated soldier identified on verso as Jim Cole. Roseberry of Alexandria back mark, slightly trimmed on bottom. Cole served in James' Regiment, Pennsylvania Independent Infantry. 3) CDV of unknown corporal standing in studio setting, Burnite & Weldon of Harrisburg back mark, slight fade, trimmed top and bottom. 4) Vignette image signed below "Yours & c./ Geo. B. Doris/ Adjt. 73rd N.Y.V." Doris served for most of the war in companies H and C of the 73rd New York, rising to the rank of 1st Lieutenant. 5) Nicely posed studio image of two seated soldiers, one of whom wears a corps badge, identified on verso as "Robert G. Russel & George J. Beller of Co. I, 57th Regt. N.Y. Vet. Vol". Thwaites & Company of New York back mark, slight fade, trimmed with clipped corners. Beeler was wounded at Reams' Station, Virginia on August 25, 1864.
