    Civil War Union Cartes-de-visite: Identified Soldiers. Fine standing portrait of Sumner Carruth who served in Company H, Massachusetts 1st Infantry and on Field & Staff of the Massachusetts 35th Infantry. He was wounded at Fair Oaks and again at Antietam prior to being captured at White Sulphur Springs. Higgins & Collier of Boston back mark with revenue stamp, faint foxing around perimeter. 2) Seated portrait of soldier, inscribed on verso "Mark E. Hanson/ 1st Sergeant Co. D/ 22nd Mass Regt." Hanson served in both the 22nd and the 32nd and was wounded at Petersburg on June 22, 1864. Marston of Bangor blind stamp, two clipped corners. 3) Vignette portrait of soldier with metal braid epaulets wearing a kepi with insignia of the 25th Infantry. Inscribed on verso: "For 'Jumes the Finian'/ with Compliments of/ Geo. K. Peary/ [illeg.]"
