Civil War Carte de Visite Album. A small 4" x 5" carte de visite album having twelve leaves and containing 24 CDVs. Likely compiled by a Union veteran or his family; this album houses ten CDV engravings of Union generals, one of Edwin Stanton, one of Rear Admiral Foote, one of a Major Winthrop, one of Washington's family, two topical views, and eight civilian images. Of the civilian portraits, at least one dates to circa 1880. Generals included here are Grant (a very early portrait), Halleck, Lyons, Banks, Lander, Buell, Pope, Fremont, Curtis, and an unknown general officer. The tooled green cover has a brass clasp and is scuffed with some chipping on the spine. Light foxing is present internally, however does not detract from the images.
