    C. 1870 Print By Tipton Of "U. S. Christian Commission at General Hospital" As with all of these period images, clearly pulled from original negatives and not copies of earlier prints. Part of a rare series of images done by Tipton shortly after he purchased the studios of Tyson Brothers. Shows sign for Christian Commission as well as sign for "U. S. Hospital". Many soldiers, as well as women from the Christian Commission standing seated in front of the tents. The tents and tent area are decorated with evergreen garland and wreaths. Image and mount both very fine. Small ink "Tipton / Gettysburg" stamp on verso.
