    Description

4 1/4" X 7 1/2" Unmounted Albumen View Of Andersonville Prison By A. J. Biddle. Signed by Handy on the verso, negative #8221. Additional period pencil notation, "Andersonville Prison. Heartless Burial of Union Prisoners". Identified by the collector as "Showing the burial detail on the afternoon of August 16, 1864, as the body of Leander Farnham, Company A, 1st Vemont Heavy Artillery is placed in the trench." There is an old cotton tape repair on the back to a 2 1/2" tear with no loss in the lower section. Some minor even fading but excellent. A remarkable Andersonville image.
