    Description

    [Mississippi Cavalry]. Confederate Andrew W. Metcalfe: Group of Three Cartes de Visite. The first features Metcalfe in an oval portrait, wearing civilian dress and a military slouch hat. Rounded corners. The second, a three quarter length studio portrait shows Metcalfe in frock coat, checkered pants, and waistcoat leaning upon a raised table. The final is the same portrait as the previous, but vignetted. Each measures 2.5" x 4" and features a Gurney's Photograph and Fine Art Gallery backstamp. Pencil notations on the verso identify him as Andrew Metcalfe.

    Andrew W. Metcalfe (1843-1894) enlisted in the Co. "A," Jefferson Davis Legion, Mississippi Cavalry, sometime around May 1, 1861.
