Rare Cabinet Card of an African-American Lawman, Circa 1885. 3.75" x 5.75", mounted to a backing to an overall size of 4.25" x 6.5". A fabulous image featuring an un-named African-American lawman, posed standing with a large five-pointed badge pinned to his jacket. At his right hip is a tell-tale bulge, though you can't see it, certainly indicates a pistol beneath his coat. Sadly, there is no photographer's mark on the studio card or notation on the verso to give at least some indication where the photograph might have been taken. The image is slightly faded and the backing is soiled and toned, otherwise it is in excellent condition.
