This is a rare outdoor image of a fully armed compliment of Texas and National Railroad Policemen, or related posse. The men pictured are all armed, most with both a shotgun or rifle and a holstered pistol. The majority of the pistols are Colt Single Action Army Models. This is an unmarked boudoir card which measures 4.75"x 7.75". The corners of the card are clipped, and worn, with fading throughout the image and a light tone. Although this image is unmarked, it came from an Ardmore, Oklahoma scrapbook. The initials "T&N" denoting the short track line Texas and National Railroad Co. can be seen on the side of the train in the background on both cars, along with "O.H.&S.A.". The Texas and National railroad was an obscure short track line. An early photograph of Texas Railroad Policeman, or a posse that is this well armed is difficult for collectors to obtain.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
