DescriptionNew Jersey Militia "Washington Rifles" Cabinet Card, Circa 1881. Framed in a period frame to an overall size of 7 ½-inches x 10-inches. The image depicts a young militiaman posed standing next to an upholstered chair. The clarity of the image allows the viewer to see the detail of his militia sword, uniform, fantastic Washington Rifles belt plate and his kepi which bears the insignia "GSB". There was a group formed in 1881 in Bergen County, New Jersey called the "Washington Rifles Schutzenbundes", also referred to as "German Schuetzen Bund", which may well apply to this image.
Condition: Very good. The image is slightly toned but remains clear with a few scattered stains.
