    Description

Lacy House (Falmouth, Virginia) Photograph. Albumen image, 9" x 7" (affixed to a larger backing measuring 18" x 12.75"). The portrait is entitled, "Lacy House, Falmouth, Virginia," marked as No. 29, and dated December 1862 (negative by T. H. O'Sullivan and the positive by A. Gardner). Hinged to the portrait is the accompanying printed profile of the house. The house sat on the bank of the Rappahannock River, just opposite of Fredericksburg, and took heavy shelling during the Battle of Fredericksburg. Union Generals McDowell and Burnside used the house and grounds as their headquarters. The house Mat burn exists around the margins, else a bold, clear image.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
