DescriptionImperial Size Photograph "Zuni Transportation" by John K. Hillers ca 1879. John K. Hillers (1843-1925) was a photographer for the US Geological Survey and the Bureau of American Ethnography from 1871-1919. He worked with John Wesley Powell on the Colorado River, joining Major John Wesley Powell in 1871 as a boatman on Powell's second journey down the Colorado River. Hillers became the expedition photographer, and followed Powell to the Smithsonian Institution's newly-founded Bureau of American Ethnology and with the Cushing team from the Smithsonian on studies of the Zuni and Pueblo peoples of the Southwest.

Image itself measures approximately 7.25" x 9".
