DescriptionFramed Large Format Photograph of Six Zuni Chiefs, 1882. Photograph taken in Boston, Mass. March 1882 by Frank Cushing of six important Zuni chiefs. They were there to conduct ceremonies at the Atlantic Ocean and replenish their supply of sacred sea water. Identification from left to right, Na-na-he (a Hopi who married into Zuni), Nai-iu-tchi (senior bow priest of the Zuni), Lai-iu-tsai-lun-kia (foster father to Frank Cushing during his involvement at Zuni), Pah-lo-wah-ti-wa (governor of Zuni, also know as Patricio Pino), Ki-a-si (junior bow priest of the Zuni). Last one not known. Frame measures approximately 17" x 19.50".
Condition: Good, photograph has stains and scrapes in albumen.
