Col. Richard Irving Dodge (1827-1895) was a career Army officer who served many years in the Western Plains, and participated in a number of the conflicts with the indigenous Indians. In 1882, he published Our Wild Indians: Thirty Three Years Experience Among The Red Men Of The Great West, an acclaimed primary source about U.S. Army operations of the time and the lives of the Native Americans warriors of the Plains.
Cabinet card of this famous author taken by E. E. Henry in his studio on Delaware St., Leavenworth, Kansas. Depicts Richard Dodge in his uniform with his GAR badge and Indian War medals. Measures approximately 4.25" x 6.50".
Condition: Very fine, light crease on cover.
