Cabinet Card: Lynching of the Ruggles Brothers. Killers Meet a Grisly End. This boudoir size albumen measuring 5" x 8.5" was published by J. G. Franklin of Redding, California. It depicts the lynching of the Ruggles Brothers. They had robbed the Redding to Weaverville Stage of mail and the gold shipment. They killed the guard when he resisted. Subsequently caught and jailed, they were broken out by a mob and then lynched. The gold was never recovered. In this souvenir photo, the two criminals hang together, suspended from a broad beam and pulley mechanism from a tree branch. The noose has slipped from the neck of one victim and caught onto his teeth. There are six spectators lined up along a large, open shed used for curing firewood. There is light, normal wear at the corners.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
