    Apache Scouts in Arizona: Identified Boudoir Card. 8.5" x 5" boudoir card with image of seventeen Native Americans and one white soldier. All are identified in ink on the top border. The bottom border reads: "Group of Apache Indian Scouts at San Carlos, Arizona, Commanded by Lieut. Weigel, 1890 & 1894". Some damage in the negative, marring the image of the Apache reclining on the ground. Six scouts wear military jackets. The U.S. soldier seated front-and-center is a member of the 11th Infantry. William Weigel (1863-1935) had a distinguished career, participating in the Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, Philippine Insurrection, Mexican Border Service and World War I. He graduated West Point in 1887 and was assigned to Fort Whipple in Arizona where he commanded the Apache Indian Scouts. Sold together with a newspaper obituary of Weigel, a 7.5" x 9.5" silver print formal portrait and a 1926 silver print of Whipple and others in Manila.
