DescriptionAnnie Oakley: Large Original Photo with Identification and Extensive Inscription in Frank's Hand on Verso. Annie and Dave are posing with two men in this unpublished and undated photograph, taken in about 1920. Frank, obviously very impressed both by Annie's performance and by the company she kept, wrote on the back: "Annie Oakley gave exhibition at Delaware Water Gap for Bishop Hoban of Pa and 150 Catholic priests special exhibition and one of her best 50 targets straight 19 & 20 double fine rifle work". The two men are identified as Bishop Hoban (Michael J. Hoban was Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton from 1899 until his death in 1926) and J.P. Cope, U.S. Secret Service. Very good overall. Very minor tape marks in two corners, and one minor corner crease. 7" x 9.5". This lot will be accompanied by a family letter of provenance.
