DescriptionAnnie Oakley: An Early Cabinet Photo with Facsimile Signature. Annie's fame grew exponentially after her brilliant and highly-publicized appearances with Buffalo Bill's Wild West in England and Europe. By 1893, Annie Oakley souvenirs were so in demand that the cards were imprinted with her signature. This portrait of a forthright Annie, and the next (Lot 44004), were probably taken in the spring of 1899. Annie was almost thirty-nine years old. Photo itself is in excellent condition, but there is tape residue from old album mounting at top and bottom of mount. Mount slightly trimmed at bottom. 4.25" x 6". This lot will be accompanied by a family letter of provenance.
