    Description

Brady / Washington Albumen Photograph of General Sheridan and His Commanders. C. 1865. One of the most desirable and recognizable Brady images to emerge from the war. Beautiful 5 1/4" X 6 1/2" albumen image on original 10 1/2" X 13 1/2" mount depicting Sheridan and his commanders gathered around Sheridan's personal standard in front of a tent. Brady / Washington logo imprinted beneath the image. Mount with a few minor dents and some negligible toning, the image absolutely pristine. Period ink script ID on verso: "Brig General David McM Gregg seated left; General Phillip Sheridan - standing center" along with two revenue stamps. Superb example of this truly iconic Civil War image.
