    Armed Black Union Soldier Carte de Visite. 2.5" x 3.75" featuring an erect uniformed black soldier with rifle. He may be a member of the 108th USCT, which kept guard of Confederate prisoners at Rock Island, Illinois, prison. Backstamped with the imprint of photographer Gayford & Speidel. The CDV is cracked from the top edge to near the center, though there is no separation. It has been trimmed along the lower edge and is encapsulated in Plexiglas. Some soiling and creases.
