    Description

Annie Oakley: A Signed Cabinet Photo of a Very Feminine Annie. This photo was NOT made in 1894 as previously thought, but in 1896 as the date at the bottom in Annie's hand makes clear. And it was not made for public consumption. Each of her nieces and nephews (and a few close friends) received a copy of this picture from Aunt Annie, signed on the front of the card at the bottom in brown ink. The condition of this one makes it one of the best we've seen with only minor scratching and marginal staining on the card. This lot is from the collection of Bess Edwards, grand-niece of Annie Oakley, and will be accompanied by a signed letter from her authenticating this item as described. You reach a customer base that is in many ways completely unknown to the major auction houses, and your marketing to this base is as professional as one could hope for. As I continue to wind down my holdings.
