Two Unidentified Ambrotype Images. Dating from around 1855-1860, these are images of a man and woman around 55-60 years old. We have had no success in identifying them and Wilbur left no information. The woman bears a striking resemblance to one of the best-known photos of Zerelda Samuel in old age. However, Zerelda herself would not have looked like this during the ambrotype era. But her father, James Cole, was born in 1804, and her mother presumably at about the same time. Wilbur Zink presumably got these pictures from the James family, so it seems a distinct possibility that these are Zerelda Cole James Samuel's parents.

Each photo is approximately 2" x 2.5", housed in a thermoplastic case. There is considerable flaking of the emulsion on each, but the portraits are clear.
