Group of Five Very Nice Sixth Plate Civil War Images. No cases. Group includes:Exceptionally crisp sixth plate ambrotype portrait of a Federal artilleryman. Wears shell jacket, belt with oval US buckle bummer's cap with large letter E on the front. About perfect condition.; sixth plate tintype of Veteran Reserve Corps soldier. Wears regulation VRC uniform. Very fine quality, some minor bubbling of emulsion on right side not affecting subject, but sound with no flaking.; sixth plate tintype of young Federal soldier wearing four button blouse, bummer's cap and holding small single shot pistol. Very fine quality. Some minor emulsion bubbling at lower left but sound with no flaking and not affecting image.; sixth plate ambrotype of man in civilian clothes holding the top of his forage cap up to the camera with NHV / E / and 11 inside the infantry horn clearly visible. Exceptionally crisp, one small line of bluing at lower right apparently the result of a cover glass having been cracked as the image itself is undamaged.; Early war sixth plate ambrotype of armed Federal infantryman. Wears 4 button blouse, forage cap, full set of equipment with, interestingly, an oval cross belt plate on the ctg. box sling and oval belt plate. Both plates are outlined with gilt but the plates themselves appear to be plain. Holds M1816 (or earlier) musket at his side with what appears to be a white buff sling. Some minor edge bluing not affecting subject. Exceptional quality and condition. All images with mat, frame, glass but no cases. Very nice group.
