    Description

A true likeness of Honest Abe

Abraham Lincoln: Ninth Plate Ambrotype. Photograph in half of an embossed leather frame, copied from the large folio lithograph by Bufford of Abraham Lincoln. This was based on Charles Barry's from-life pastel done in Springfield in June 1860. The lithograph itself is very rare and seldom appears at auction. Lincoln faces right in the lithograph. Here he faces left. There is some minor spots of discoloration at the bottom. There seems to be some faint tinting to the cheeks. The overall condition is excellent.
